VMware and Multimedia Development Corporation (MDeC) today announced that Malaysia will offer a full range of VMware Data Centre Virtualisation Certifications.

The VMware Certified Design Expert (VCDX) certification will be added into the MSC Malaysia MyProCert (SRI) programme. The programme aims to help enhance the skills of Malaysian professionals in the ICT industry. Other VMware certifications available as part of the programme include VMware Certified Professional (VCP) and VMware Certified Advanced Professional (VCAP). Since the introduction of VMware Data Centre Virtualisation certifications, there are more than 1,000 VMware Certified professionals in Malaysia.

The decision to introduce the VMware certification complements MDeC's efforts towards becoming a developed high-income digital economy nation via the National ICT Initiative - MSC Malaysia and the National Digital Economy Initiative - Digital Malaysia by year 2020. Participants of the programme will be able to realise subsidised training course and certification fees, as well as receive the MSC Malaysia MyProCert (SRI) incentive, which will be reimbursed to companies and individuals that pass the required certification examinations. The net fee inclusive of the MSC Malaysia MyProCert incentive will see savings of up to RM4,480 from the training course and certification fee.

Laurence Si, country manager of VMware Malaysia, said, "Local talent with the necessary skills to deploy VMware leading solutions are in high demand, and Malaysia being the one of the first to offer the full range of VMware Data Centre Virtualisation Certifications globally is significant. We are committed to collaborating closely with MDeC to introduce more of these courses to IT professionals in Malaysia and to equip them with the relevant technical skills to help develop Malaysia's digital economy."

"MDeC is proud that Malaysia is one of the first to offer the full range of VMware Data Centre Virtualisation certifications globally," said Datuk Badlisham Ghazali, chief executive officer of MDeC. "The VMware certifications are a timely and strategic addition to the training programmes offered to our ICT professionals, as it provides them with the necessary skills and knowledge needed to fulfil the demands of the world-class companies that Malaysia attracts."

Through the MSC Malaysia MyProCert (SRI) programme, VMware works with MDeC to offer world-class training and certification designed to validate and recognise IT professionals with the technical capabilities and real-world experience needed to effectively design, install, deploy, manage, and support VMware solutions. Achieving a VMware certification validates an employee's technical capabilities and expertise in virtualisation and distinguishes them in the job market. VMware Certified Design Expert 5 - Data Centre Virtualisation (VCDX5 - DCV) - is the highest level of certification offered by VMware and is a globally recognised certification for professionals in the data centre industry.

"As more companies in Malaysia adopt virtualisation and cloud computing in their journey towards becoming a Software-Defined Enterprise, we anticipate the popularity of the certifications to increase as organisations will require the skills and knowledge of these data centre experts," added Si.
