PalmSecure
Your hand is the key
Biometrics is the automated recognition of individuals based on their biological and behavioural characteristics for access control, electronic point of sale, system log in and Match on Card. The use of Biometrics involves.identifying the identity of an input sample when compared to a pre-registered template.
Biometric systems can be either possession based using a token, card or security tag or knowledge based utilising a pin code or password and can offer two key functions
Verification where users are authenticated in conjunction with a smart-card, username or ID number. The biometric template captured is compared with that stored against the registered user either on a smart card or database for verification.
Identification where users are authenticated from the biometric characteristic alone without the use of smart cards, usernames or ID numbers. The biometric template is compared to all records within the database and a closest match score is returned. The closest match within the allowed threshold is deemed the individual and authenticated.
Fujitsu has developed a Biometric authentication solution incorporating their PalmSecure™ sensor which offers optimum levels of security. PalmSecure™ works by detecting the structure of the pattern of veins on the palm of the human hand. This contactless, hygienic system offers maximum security as well as maximum precision.
