Gilbert Lichter joined the European Banking Association (EBA) in 1992 as secretary-general. The EBA was founded in order to manage the ECU clearing system. He is also a member of the managing board of CEDEL in Luxembourg. Lichter began his professional career in 1978 with Banque Internazionale à Luxembourg.
