The revised Barclays offer, which was helped by investments from Singapore and China, includes $58.9 billion in shares and $34.2 billion in cash, or $49.32 per ABN Amro share.
In a company statement, ABN Amro said it welcomes the opportunity for shareholders to consider two competing proposals on a level playing field.
Barclay’s investments came from China Development Bank and Singapore-based Temasek Holdings. The Chinese investment, which could reach $13.5 billion, would be the country’s largest overseas investment in a company, Bloomberg said.
If the Barclays offer is successful, China would have as much as a 7.7% stake in the company, while Temasek would hold around 2.9%.
