Credit Suisse has decided to strengthen its position in Central and Eastern Europe by further developing its presence in Poland. The firm also aims to become an active member of the Warsaw Stock Exchange.

Credit Suisse plans to strengthen its local investment banking business in Poland by re-establishing Warsaw-based equity trading capabilities and by increasing research coverage for Polish companies in 2010.

In addition to its growth plans in investment banking, Credit Suisse continues to have a strong focus on its private banking business which was introduced in 2009. The asset management business will concentrate on institutional mandates and providing targeted services for the private bank.

Michael Rudiger, CEO of Central Europe at Credit Suisse, said: “I am pleased that we are significantly strengthening the importance of Poland in our organization. Poland is an important market with a lot of growth potential. With our unique offering as an integrated bank, offering our strong investment banking, private banking and asset management capabilities, we are confident that we can add value to support the development of the country.”
