TWSE chairman Sush-Der Lee and MIAX chairman and chief executive officer Thomas Gallagher have inked the MoU, which marks the beginning of a collaborative relationship between the firms.

Under the terms of the agreement, collaboration on information sharing will help in the listing and trading of options on certain exchange traded funds (ETFs) and certain indexes linked to TWSE listed stocks.

From 4 September 2013, MIAX has started listing Options on the iShares MSCI Emerging Markets ETF (EEM), a traded ETF that gives investors exposure to both Taiwanese companies and those in other emerging markets.

Gallagher said that the collaboration with the Taiwan Stock Exchange provides its customers broader exposure to emerging markets, especially the Taiwan capital market.

"The MOU will foster collaboration and information sharing between both exchanges, in addition to providing us with the opportunity to introduce MIAX to the international trading community as one of the premier options exchanges," Gallagher added.

In another development, Miami International Holdings (MIH), the parent company of MIAX, has inked a contract for the construction of its office located in Miami, Florida, which is likely to be completed by the first quarter of 2014.
