Gemalto has launched bio-sourced degradable smart cards. The bio-sourced smart banking card and SIM card are compliant to the industry standards in their respective sectors. At Cartes & IDentification this year, Gemalto will be presenting both products on its stand.
Made from renewable material, the cards are recyclable, compostable and can be incinerated without emissions of toxic fumes. They will be ready for mass production in the first quarter of 2010.
