As part of the its continuing focus on strengthening the leadership as a competitive advantage, Scotiabank has made some changes to its executive management team. These changes are effective September 1, 2009.

Wendy Hannam, currently EVP of Personal Banking and Distribution, Canada, has been appointed EVP, Sales & Service, Products & Marketing, International Banking. Ms. Hannam will be reporting to Rob Pitfield, group head, International Banking. She will oversee strategy development, channel optimization, sales & service design and execution, marketing and product support for International Banking.

Dieter Jentsch, currently EVP, Commercial Banking, Canada, has been appointed EVP, Latin America. He will be reporting to Mr. Pitfield. Mr. Jentsch will be responsible for Scotiabank’s Latin American operations, including Central America, and for the Spanish-speaking countries in the Caribbean.

Anne Marie O’Donovan, currently SVP and chief auditor, has been appointed EVP and chief administration officer, Scotia Capital, a new executive role reporting jointly to Scotia Capital co-CEOs Steve McDonald and Mike Durland. In her new role, Ms. O’Donovan will oversee finance and operations including and Global Wholesale Services for Scotia Capital.

Anatol von Hahn, currently EVP, Latin America, has been appointed to the newly created position of EVP, Personal and Commercial Banking Canada, reporting to Chris Hodgson, group head, Canadian Banking. Mr. von Hahn will be responsible for retail, small business and commercial banking in Canada.
