The UEC is one of the major projects in the Federal Government’s ‘e-government initiative’. The UEC will be a multi application smart card carrying applications such as a citizen identity card, state medical insurance, pension entitlements and payments. Applications and services on the UEC will be available at federal, regional and municipal levels.
BPC’s e-payments suite SmartVista will be responsible for data processing services across the full range of services available on the cards.
This will include data capture, routing and authorization for services requested by individual cardholders, such as insurance, pension services etc.
BPC Banking Technologies CEO Vasily Grigoriev said that the introduction of the UEC is an important step in streamlining the availability of government services for the Russian citizen and SmartVista’s well known flexibility, scalability and security will be used to the full.
