Under this agreement, Chi-X Australia’s participants will be able to benefit from Equinix’s existing carrier and financial network connectivity infrastructure, offering participants low latency proximity hosting options.
Chi-X Global said that the announcement comes as Chi-X Australia in preparation for its fourth quarter launch, subject to final government approval.
In addition, with the opening of the new SY3 facility in mid 2011 to complement the existing SY1 and SY2 data centers, Equinix is expected to meet the demand of Australia’s inceasing number of financial market participants.
Chi-X Australia COO Peter Fowler said that with the help of Equinix, Chi-X Australia will deliver the type of low latency, high performance, stable and resilient trading system that the Australian market demands.
"Equinix is a key component of Australia’s financial services ecosystem and should complement our expansion plans in this market well. The selection of Equinix’s facility as Chi-X Australia’s primary data center represents a critical milestone, as we can now begin working with market participants to address their proximity hosting requirements and network connectivity needs," Fowler said.
