Online banking customers will continue to have the same login ID and password, but will now also have a second level of authentication. The first time customers log in, they will be asked to set up their personalized SecurEntry, which includes selecting a secret picture, phrase, and challenge questions and answers that are known only to the customer.
On subsequent visits, customers will be shown the selected picture so they can be assured they are accessing Amegy Bank’s website and not an imposter site.
With internet fraud becoming more and more advanced, Amegy Bank wants our customers to be confident when they access their banking information
online, said Paul Murphy, CEO of Amegy Bank of Texas. It is a priority to continue to improve and strengthen our fraud and identify theft protection to keep our online banking systems as secure as possible.
SecurEntry also remembers a customer’s computer by assigning a unique identifier to that computer when it is registered. Amegy says that this provides even greater protection against unauthorized individuals logging into customers’ accounts, even if they somehow obtain the login ID and password. In the event a customer needs to login from a different computer, the system will ask a challenge question to further verify the client’s identity.
Setup of SecurEntry is expected to take approximately five minutes, and future logins should take approximately the same amount of time as it did prior to the addition of the SecurEntry features.
