Prior to the appointment, Gush was serving as Standard Bank head of corporate and investment banking in Africa and will take charge in April 2012 as South African CEO of Bank of America Merrill Lynch, Bloomberg reported.
Gush will replace Marcus Heilner, the head of Merrill Lynch in South Africa since 2006, and also join the lender’s executive committee for emerging markets excluding Asia.
Bank of America executive chairman of global banking and markets Andrea Orcel said Gush will work with the country and regional heads of all lines of business to ensure the bank delivers the full platform to its clients.
Bank of America Merrill Lynch was formed through the combination of investment banking activities of Bank of America and Merrill Lynch following the acquisition of the latter by the former in January 2009.
