Sources familiar with the matter were quoted by Bloomberg as saying that Chamberlain joins the US bank from Japanese financial holding company Nomura, which he joined in June 2010.
Based in Sydney, Chamberlain will report to Kevin Skelton, head of investment banking in Australia, and Stephen Gore, head of M&A for Asia-Pacific outside of Japan.
Prior to joining the Japanese company, he worked for 12 years at Deutsche Bank and later was appointed as managing director.
Chamberlain and Nomura both declined to comment on the development.
BofA serves nearly 55 million consumer and small business relationships with almost 5,500 retail banking offices and about 16,300 ATMs and also has 30 million online banking active users, according to bank’s data as of November 2012.
