Cathay United Bank and MasterCard have launched the co-branded EasyCard credit card, the Cathay United Bank PLAY Card. The card is aimed for young online users and provides online shopping benefits.

Reportedly, the card offers consumers a means of payment, combining the MasterCard PayPass contactless function and the EasyCard automatic topping up function. The card also features the internet animation star Tuzki.

It has added that targeting young online shoppers, the Cathay United Bank PLAY Card offers tripled bonus points every time it is used for online shopping in selected websites. Catering to their lifestyles, the card also offers privileges at CASHBOX, Ootoya and KKBOX and at selected movie theaters and coffee shops in Taiwan.

The other benefits for the cardholders include: discounts on insurance policies from Cathay Life and discounts in designated department stores as well as travel insurance benefits and specially priced airport transfer services provided by MasterCard.

Tsu-pei Chen, general manager, Cathay United Bank, said: “The Cathay United Bank PLAY Card is a payment tool tailor-made for MRT commuters between the ages of 25 and 35. It is also the first credit card to specially provide benefits to online shoppers. The popular image of Tuzki on the card may become a popular conversation topic with the younger generation.”
