Citi has appointed Atiq ur Rehman as CEO for the Middle East division, based in the UAE. Mr Rehman is an experienced Citibanker with a career spanning 26 years at the bank. Up until his new assignment, he was co-head of Capital Markets Origination for the EMEA region.
Previously, he played a key role in building Citi’s emerging markets debt franchises around the world. In 2008, Mr. Rehman relocated to the UAE from London to expand Citi’s capital markets presence in the region.
Mr Rehman said: “I am delighted to be part of Citi’s Middle East franchise. I look forward to building on our strengths and expanding our business in the region.”
Alberto Verme, CEO of Europe, Middle East and Africa for Citi, said: “Mr Rehman’s leadership will be critical in ensuring Citi’s continued success and growth, given his long experience and exposure to key local markets.”
