Through this partnership, qualifying CitiFinancial customers will be able to visit PT Pos Indonesia outlets in major cities to apply for, and collect, a loan, said Shariq Mukhtar, country business manager for the global consumer group at Citibank Indonesia, who signed the agreement with Hana Suryana, CEO of PT Pos Indonesia.

Initially, CitiFinancial will open financial loan centers in 10 major post office branches in Jakarta, with a vision to offer the service in more branches in the future.

Citibank and PT Pos Indonesia have enjoyed a long history of partnerships, which began in 1992 with the signing of a landmark distribution agreement between the two parties. Today, more than 500,000 Citibank statements are distributed by PT Pos Indonesia.

This partnership goes a long way in helping us to realize our vision of making Pos Indonesia post offices ‘one stop service terminals’ for customers. We want the post offices to be places where customers can send and receive mail, package deliveries and apply for financial services, Mr Suryana said.

Financial education information for customers at the centers will also be provided to help enhance customers’ financial planning skills. In addition, the group also expects to introduce an innovative 30-minute loan approval process for potential customers who have a clean credit history.
