Lee Ah Boon, vice chairman of Citibank (China), said: Citibank has been at the forefront of ATM services since 1977, and today continues to be an industry leader in financial services innovation. We are delighted to be the first bank to open a drive-through ATM in China, and we will continue to introduce new services that provide increased flexibility and convenience for our customers.

Anand Selva, executive vice president of Citibank (China), said: As part of our efforts to expand our distribution network in China, we recognize that the ATM is an important and efficient contact point for customer outreach. This world-class drive-through ATM is a reflection of our intent to not only increase the quantity of ATM’s we have in China, but also to find new ways of making them available to our customers.

At present, the bank has a total of 95 ATMs in China, including both in-branch and offsite. The ATMs currently provide banking services to cardholders of internationally issued bankcards. It is expected that, once regulation permits, local residents holding debit cards issued in China will be able to access and use Citibank’s ATM network in China.
