He will be based in New York and report jointly to Dan Ward and Alan Brown, global co-heads of Natural Resources.
Hoeppli will join Deutsche Bank after 21 years at UBS, where he was most recently global head of steel and head of metals and mining for the Americas.
Ward said that the natural resources sector continues to be a critical area of focus and growth for the Bank globally.
"We believe that Dieter will have an immediate positive impact on our franchise and we are delighted to have him onboard," Ward said.
