Based in New York, Cummins will jointly report to North America head of commercial banking Steve Bottomley and Diane Reyes global head of payments and cash management.
Cummins will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the US Payments and Cash Management business, including sales, product strategy and innovation, client and business management and risk and control management.
Reyes said Cummins will bring an added dimension of skill, leadership and innovative-thinking, expected by the US Commercial Banking and Global Banking and Markets customers from the bank.
Bottomley said: "Michael’s appointment is the latest example of the bank’s commitment to its U.S. business and its growth prospects.
Having started his financial services career as an operations management trainee at Chemical Bank in 1992, Cummins is presently working with JP Morgan Chase, and recently served as a managing director and sales executive in JP Morgan Treasury Services with oversight of the Corporate Client Banking segment.
