The mutual, based in Chatham, has awarded a GBP1 million contract to IT and networking specialist s2s for a high speed network that will enable Kent Reliance to move more jobs abroad, according to The Independent newspaper.
The building society previously caused controversy when it moved 44 jobs to Bangalore, India in 2004. Chief executive Mike Lazenby told the newspaper: We’re going to outsource everything we possibly can if it can be done better elsewhere. It’s a more cost-effective way to do business and despite concerns about issues such as data protection, security is actually better offshore than in the UK.
