Effective 1 April 2011, Moore will be responsible for developing the firm’s pan-European growth strategy as well as for overall business activities in the region. He will also be a member of the global management committee and European board of directors.
Moore will succeed Charles Pendred, who has been serving as interim managing director of Europe since October 2010.
Upon Moore’s appointment, which is subject to Financial Services Authority approval, Pendred will resume his duties as an independent director and non-executive chairman of the firm’s European board of directors.
Moore has spent 25 years in the financial services industry, building his career with international roles across the foreign exchange and fixed income divisions at Citigroup from 1986 to 2008.
In his most recent role at Citigroup, he served as head of fixed income, Europe Middle East and Africa with responsibility for 1,800 banking professionals in sales and trading, marketing, developing and distributing a full range of fixed income products and services.
MF Global chairman and CEO Jon Corzine said that Richard’s extensive background across financial services – and particularly his experience with the European investment bank model – will bring the insight and perspective necessary to expand the growth opportunities, further diversify business and better serve clients.
"Europe represents a vital part of our global strategy with significant growth potential. I look forward to working with Richard as we transition our firm and European operations to a commodities and capital markets-focused global investment bank."
