nFinanSe, a Florida-based financial services company and provider of stored value and prepaid card solutions, has announced that the company will begin offering Visa branded general purpose re-loadable prepaid cards in the Fall of 2009, as part of its suite of managed card products.
Reportedly, the Visa prepaid cards will be distributed to retail chains through the company’s distributor relationships and direct relationships with retailers. The cards will be issued by Palm Desert National Bank (PDNB).
Jerry Welch, chairman and CEO, nFinanSe said: “We are very excited to be offering Visa cards to our retail partners. By offering Visa prepaid reloadable cards with a $3 purchase price at major retail stores, we believe that we will drive significant trial and usage and accelerate the general market acceptance of prepaid cards.”
Brian Triplett, head of global prepaid products, Visa, said: “This relationship will bring consumers greater opportunity to enjoy the convenience and security of Visa payments especially those consumers without a traditional banking relationship and empower consumers with a convenient way to make everyday purchases, pay bills, transact online, and receive deposits, with added the peace of mind that their funds are protected against loss or theft, a benefit not provided by cash.”
