The agreement includes PNC-hosted financial literacy workshops for students and employees on the Slippery Rock campus. Topics covered will include basic banking, credit management, savings and investing, identity protection and home buying.
The relationship will also include a new electronic customer service center, now open in the University Union. The service center includes an on-site customer service representative and an advanced function ATM, in addition to the two current ATMs located on-campus.
Following the agreement, PNC Bank will offer personal banking products and services including Virtual Wallet Student, an online banking solution specially designed to help college students help themselves with money management; a co-branded PNC Bank Visa Check Card, emblazoned with the Slippery Rock logo and available to any PNC customer, to be used at ATMs and to make purchases anywhere Visa is accepted.
Additionally, PNC Bank will also introduce customized web sites, hosted by PNC, where students can complete account applications, manage their finances and find financial and educational information; PNC AutoAlerts via e-mail and/or text message to help monitor spending and account balances to avoid mistakes; fees and one free incoming wire transfer per monthly statement cycle and one free courtesy overdraft fee waiver for students during the 12 months after account opening.
Robert Smith, president of SRU, said: “PNC’s focus on financial education and proven commitment to many of the nearby communities that our students, faculty and staff call home make this relationship a great fit for Slippery Rock. We are able to provide convenient access to money management solutions that will empower our campus community to make confident financial decisions.”
