Odenius, a former International Monetary Fund mission chief, will be responsible for evaluating global macroeconomic trends and analyzing developed country sovereigns.

Prudential said his work will support its fixed income unit’s views on interest rates, sovereign spreads and foreign exchange rates. He will be an important member of the Global Investment Strategy team.

Before to Prudential, Odenius was a mission chief for the IMF’s European department in Washington, DC, responsible for several emerging and developed countries.

Previously, he formulated the IMF’s outlook for Germany, and contributed to the IMF’s capital markets outlook.

Earlier, Odenius was the global head of emerging markets economics and strategy for Commerzbank in London, and served as an emerging markets fixed income analyst for SBC Warburg Dillon Read in London.
