According to RBS, the Yorkshire service will operate from York and will provide banking to around 20 Yorkshire communities, five days a week. Similarly, the North Wales service, which will operate from Llandudno, will provide banking to around 11 Welsh communities, five days a week. Both services are due to start in February 2007.

The new services will be the first of their kind from RBS to operate in both North Wales and the Yorkshire area and will be two of 16 mobile banks visiting over 300 different communities throughout Scotland, England and Wales.

Ewen Munro, managing director of RBS retail, commented on the bank’s continued strategy of providing customers with mobile banking services, stating: In addition to nearly 650 branches, we will be running a total of 16 mobile banks and a flying bank in Scotland, making life easier for thousands of customers since our first mobile bank was launched in 1946.

Mr Munro continued: At a time when some organizations are closing branches, we firmly believe that our branch network, and services such as the mobile bank, remain very important for the communities they serve.

The route and timetable of the two new services are awaiting final approval and RBS has declined to give any financial details regarding the mobile banks.
