The fund, which will be brought to market in mid-December 2011, will be a concentrated portfolio of 50 US companies with no bias to a particular industry with a market cap above $1bn.
The US Alpha Plus Fund, which brings the suite of Schroder Alpha Plus Funds to six, will aim to provide capital growth by investing in US companies.
Shatney, who joined Schroders in 2005, currently manages two offshore Schroders funds namely the US Large Cap and US All Cap.
Shatney said that high profit growth in the past two years and strong balance sheets means US companies are in a strong position going into 2012. This combined with low valuations and expected growth rates of 5- 10% next year, makes investing in the US very attractive.
Schroders managing director UK Intermediary Robin Stoakley said they think the time is ripe for a concentrated, high conviction portfolio in the US equities space.
