The total operating revenues for the fiscal second quarter of 2012 rose to $2.57bn, compared to $2.24bn for the same period a year ago.

Operating income was $1.6bn for the quarter, compared to $1.38bn for the same period prior year.

Data processing revenues rose 12% over the prior year to $922m while the international transaction revenues, which are driven by cross-border activity, grew 17% over the prior year to $733m.

Payments volume, on a constant dollar basis, for the quarter increased 11% over the prior year to $956bn.

Visa chairman and CEO Joseph Saunders said, "Our strong financial performance this quarter was fueled by continued growth of US credit products, strong cross border spending and expansion of Visa’s core business in international markets."
