Westpac said Beijing branch will increase its geographical coverage in the China, with its ability to support customers with business interests in the North of the country.
The offering services at the Beijing branch includes foreign currency debt and capital markets products, money market and deposit products, trade finance and foreign exchange.
Westpac Institutional Bank Group executive Rob Whitfield said China is Australia’s largest trading partner and the opening of its Beijing branch better positions the bank to support its customers’ trade and investment flows between China and Australia and New Zealand.
The latest Beijing branch is the Westpac’s second in China and its sixth office in the region.
Westpac opened its first branch in Shanghai, in 2008 and has had representative office in China since 1982.
The Chinese branches are supported by branches in Hong Kong and Singapore and representative offices in Mumbai and Jakarta.
